Rihanna’s stranglehold over the airwaves isn’t about to end any time soon, with her crunk Nicki Minaj collaboration “Raining Men” scheduled to hit urban radio on December 6th. There’s no confirmation yet as to whether or not the song will serve as an official single. In the past Beyonce has used a similar tactic, releasing pop songs as her main singles while sending more R&B/Hip-Hop flavored tunes to urban radio formats as a way to target multiple demographics, so Rihanna could simply be doing the same.
Christina Aguilera returned to the Back to Basics era for her performance at tonights American Music Awards, singing the song “Express” from the Burlesque soundtrack. Aggie’s stage setup wasn’t quite as elaborate as some of the other pop performances from the night, but that’s OK, because she really didn’t need as many bells and whistles as her contemporaries and that’s thanks to her all conquering voice, which was just as gutsy and loud as ever.
The Gorillaz recently filmed a session for BBC’s Live Lounge where they performed a cover of “Crystalised” by Mercury Prize winners The xx.
